समयमा संविधानसभाको निर्वाचन नहुने
सैनिक कू बाट राजतन्त्र स्थापित हुने खतरा बढ्दो

जनआन्दोलनको बलबाट पुनःस्थापित संसदले पुनःस्थापना भएको केही दिन पछि नै २०६३ साल जेठ महिनाभित्र संविधानसभा निर्वाचन गर्ने भनी एउटा संकल्प प्रस्ताव पारित गरेको थियो । यस बीच नेपालको अन्तरिम संविधान २०६३ लाई पारित तथा घोषणा गर्ने, सशस्त्र विद्रोही माओवादीका प्रतिनिधि सहितको अन्तरिम ‘विधायिका-संसद’ निर्माण गर्ने र सो पार्टीका मन्त्रीहरु सहितको अन्तरिम सरकार गठन गर्ने काम सम्पन्न भइसकेका छन् । तर संसदवादी सातदल, सशस्त्र विद्रोही माओवादी र समग्र जनआन्दोलनको प्रमुख माग बनेको संविधानसभाको निर्वाचन भने पुनःस्थापित संसदले पारित गरेको संकल्प बमोजिम तोकिएको समयभित्र हुन नसक्ने पक्का पक्की भइसकेको छ । (more…)

देशभर लाखौंलाख जनता राजाको निरंकुशताको विरोधमा सडकमा निस्केर भर्खरै हाम्रो मुलुकमा जनआन्दोलन सफलतापर्ूवक सम्पन्न भएको छ । नेकपा -माओवादी) ले १० वर्षेखि सशस्त्र संर्घष्ा गर्दै आएको थियो र ५ दल र ७ दलले २०५९ असोज १८ को राजाको प्रतिगामी कदमपछि राजाको विरोधमा संर्घष्ा गर्दै आएको थियो । तर अहिले आएर मात्र राजाको निरंकुशता विरोधी आन्दोलन सफल हुन सक्यो । अहिले आएर मात्र आन्दोलन सफल हुनाको कारण के हो भन्ने कुरामा स्पष्ट हुने काम भएमा मात्र अब अगाडिको कामलाई ठीक ढंगले अगाडि बढाउन सकिने हुन्छ अन्यथा राजालाई भित्तामा पुर्याउन सफल भएको यो आन्दोलनले फेरि पनि अवरोधको सामना गर्नुपर्ने हुन्छ । आन्दोलन यही बेलामा आएर सफल हुनाको कारणबारे स्पष्ट हुन एकै छिन विगतका केहि घटनालाई सम्झौं । (more…)

Being the original inhabitants of the land is just one aspect of the terms ‘indigeneous’ or ‘adivasi’. The Newar people may perceive these terms in this manner only, but I am sure the Newar leaders know, as do the rest of the world, that these terms also indicate oppression, backwardness, and isolation, all of which have negative connotations. HMG of Nepal has recently made major changes in its bureaucracy. The summary is as follows.

1. Home Secretary Mr. Chandi Prasad Shrestha has been transferred to reserve pool.
2. Acting Secretary for the Elections Commission Mr. Suvarna Lal Shrestha has been sent back to his original position of Joint Secretary.
3. Joint Secretary Mr. Krishna Bahadur Shrestha has been appointed Acting Secretary for Department of National Alert.
4. Joint Secretary Mr. Navin Kumar Shrestha has been appointed Acting Secretary for Ministry of foreign Affairs.

Chandi Prasad Shrestha is considered candidate apparent to the post of Chief Secretary. Suvarna Lal Shrestha is considered the honest and able administrator. Appointment of Navin Kumar Shrestha as Acting Secretary for Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been challenged on the ground that he has not completed a tenure of 5 years as Joint Secretary as provided by law.

Lucky secretary Narayan Prasad Silwal in the reserve pool has been appointed secretary to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Nine joint secretaries have been promoted to the post of secretary. There is not a single Newar among the promoted secretaries.

Navin Kumar Shrestha and Krishna Bahadur Shrestha are the only two Newars among the five joint secretaries having appointed to the post of 5 acting secretaries.

SWANTI NAKHA, the festival of lights and Nepal’s own New Year NEPAL SAMBAT 1126 are just a few days away. If we keep aside who started it and when, and how and why it is related to a religion, we see an immense social value of this great festival, including a great tradition to honor even animals and birds in recognition of their services to human society.
